Woebegone Woods

Sage & Barley Tier Dialogue

Sage, an owl, and Barley, a badger, have just achieved a strong bond in their friendship. It shows Barley's desire to share a moment with his friends and help Sage come out of her shell while sharing a moral with her through storytelling. It also shows Sage's initial reserved attitude to experiences she may be uncomfortable with, but opens up once she realizes it isn't anything to be scared of.

Morel & Barley Negative Dialogue

Morel, a fox, and Barley, a badger, are having an argument. This shows the difference in work ethic between the two characters, while maintaining their unique voices. In a game focused on characters and community, it is important to have moments where contrasting personalities clash and conflict to show how strong the bonds are when they grow past their disagreements.

Bean & Ginkgo Positive Dialogue

Bean, a cat and the player character, has a positive relationship growth with Ginkgo, a bear while working at the Feast task. It shows Ginkgo as a "mama bear" type character by looking out for Bean and praising them for their work. And it shows Bean as willing to lend a helping hand with anything, painting them as a very reliable character, someone fit to manage the festival preparations.

Sage Character Document

This is a document detailing who the character Sage is. Her personality, mannerisms, background, etc. I based much of her on myself and other creative people I know, making her feel well-rounded and relatable.

Point of View Switch Dev Blog

A reflection on different stages of development with regards to switching camera point of views multiple times. Talks about design intent and game feel and how the design evolved to balance both players' and designers' desires.

In the Midnight Light

Set in the final year of high school for two girls, "In the Midnight Light" is a story about fleeting feelings and the anxiety of loss brought on by their upcoming graduation. It explores what it feels like to play music and the intimacy of playing with another.
